Curated by Dr. Martina Mrongovius ((Holocenter, New York / Academy of Media Arts, Cologne), this survey exhibition brought together 26 artists working with holography and included early pieces from the 70's and 80's as well as more recent examples.

Andrew Pepper showed Vertical Liquid Supported, a small reflection hologram of the shadow of liquid, held upright (unframed) by an industrial 'G' clamp.

Divided Line was produced specifically for this solo exhibition at the Highgate Gallery, London, in responce to the coat of arms which occupied the upper back wall of the exhibition space.

This thin white light transmission hologram, supported on each side by incandescent light tubes, was illuminated by three light sources.

This piece is one of several "colour studies" produced during research which started the collaboration between Pepper and Krantz.

Two papers were written in connection with this work: one by Pepper on the creative interrogation of the piece and its production; one by Krantz on the scientific and technical aspects of the process. Both have been published by SPIE.

About

Andrew Pepper works with projected light, holography and installation.  Based in the UK,  he has exhibited his work in group and solo exhibitions internationally and, as a senior lecturer in fine art at Nottingham Trent University, he taught on the BA (Hons) fine art course, the Master of Fine Art course and has acted as a PhD examiner for a wide range of key project-based research submissions.
